Komboloi/Worry beads have several uses in Greek culture, including relaxation, enjoyment, and generally passing the time as an amulet, to guard against bad luck, used by people who wish to limit smoking, as a mark of power and social prestige. Also as a finger toy.
Komboloi may be constructed from any type of bead. Ours are made from many different kinds of beads and the Greek Key symbol. Usually, they have an odd number of beads and they are around
two palms in length.
Begleri is an open worry bead used as a toy.
March or Martis, as it is called is a Greek custom in which a bracelet made of red and white rope or threads that have been twisted or knitted, is worn on March 1 in Greece.
Martis It is believed to have its roots in Ancient Greece, and specifically in the Eleusinian Mysteries. The mystics of the Eleusinian Mysteries tied a thread to their right hand and their left foot.
From the 1st to the 31st of March, the children wear on their wrist a bracelet. According to popular tradition, Martis protects the faces of children from the first Sun of Spring, so that they do not burn. They make it on the last day of February and wear it on the first day of March, before leaving the house.
